didn’t like the style

Ah, man, my skin has been itchy ever since reading this. Short chapters and small words make this a fast-paced fun read about an invasion from another world. Much body snatching involved. Definitely recommended. http://www.goodreads.com/images/close.gif

An all time favorite science fiction story.

It has been years since I stayed up all night to finish a book, and this one finally made me do it. The story is truly disgusting. I like the way it ended so much that I am not sure I am going to read the two books that are sequels to it.

Horror-thriller is a good description for this book; it gets very gory at times. That being said, the plot was compelling and the science fiction element held up well. I’ll definitely be reading the sequel to see how things develop.

I wanted to like this book. I liked the concept, and parts of it were fun, or suspenseful, or grotesque. The concept alone sold me. But...

My biggest problems was the abundance of adverbs and similes. (everything is 'like' something or 'as if it was'; Blood can't just be blood.) And there was just a lot of writing in this book. A lot of prose that (while well-written) doesn't move us forward. It happens throughout the entire book. I eventually just started glossing through the chunky introspective paragraphs and looked for anything that looked important or actually pushed us ahead in the story. This novel needed a better line editor to go through and clear those problems up.

Now don't get me wrong. There were moments in this that were wonderful, hilarious, and disgusting. (in a good way) But it is buried under all the problems of the book, which made it a slog to get through for large chunks. The book isn't very long (339 pages for the hardcover) yet it feels slow for long stretches. I found myself flipping ahead to see how much more I had to get through.

It wasn't ALL bad. And I am interested enough to check out some of the author's later works.

I guess that's something.

Bit gruesome, a bit gory, but it really does keeps you on your toes with its quick pace.

I absolutely loved this book! Almost a five star the story of a mysterious infection ravaging the population which involves strange triangle growths and psychopathic behaviour. Easy to read and impossible to put down I can't wait to read the follow up - contagious.

Gross-out style horror with no a likable character. I was intrigued enough to finish but wish I hadn't wasted the time.

This book kept my interest from the begginging. I am excited to read the next two in the series though they are still in the higher price range for novels so I may wait until the price lowers.
