definitely unsettling and disturbing. if you can’t read body horror, stay as far away from this book as possible lol. it’s a really interesting concept and the sci-fi elements of the story are sooo good. but the characters feel pretty one dimensional, and i hateeeee when book endings feel like they’re just setting things up for the sequel.

The best part of this novel was the psychotic breakdown of the infected, what appears to be dissociative identity disorder, that is oddly nostalgic for me. The parasites speak in a hurried, auto tuned collective that reminds me of Marvel's Venom and its interaction with its host. Basically, it's pretty freaking cool. I can only imagine the terror of hearing a voice inside my head screaming "Kill, kill, kill! Feed, feed, feed!"... Until the owner(s) of the voice kills and eats you....

It was definitely interesting, there were a lot of characters thrown at you all at once and hard to juggle but by the end I had them all down. I loved the descriptions of the gory bits, and the psychological aspects of it all, makes for a great read.
What killed me was the ending, too si-fy, out of the world for me personally but still well written.

I was torn on whether I really liked this or not. I deffinately was entertained to the point where I kept wanting to continue to see what was happening next. Up until near the final act. Looking back at it though the storyline isnt original, and the characters are not too interesting except for maybe Perry Dawsey. The open ending paves the way for a sequel that Ill read based on the fact that this book did entertain me. There are plenty of parts where you end up thinking, WTH?! Whats going to happen next?, but in the end Im left with a bittertaste feeling. I felt that there could have been a little bit something else added to it, but the focus steered more towards the violence and gore. Just dont sacrifice the storyline and character development for it.

The story was very slow but the plot and charaters were interesting. I wouldn't read it again, but it wasn't bad per say, just very slow.

I can't say that I really "enjoyed" this book, however I will mostly likely read part 2.

It's hard to enjoy a book when you basically can't stand any of your characters. I think it would have been better had one of the main characters, Perry, who has been infected with the Triangles, been a sympathetic person instead of the violent oaf he was. Also the agent working for the government, Dew, was a horrible person all around as well as the doctors working on the epidemic. Made you feel almost like you wanted the Triangles to win this one. But we'll see how the seond book works out. Perhpas the characters will grow into decent human beings.
