It was pretty slow and hard to get into at first, I don't usually like college stories and/or "dark academia", so maybe that's why. But I kept going and the pace picked up and then it flew by.

I am such a sucker for forbidden romance and this book has that. I think I started to really like it when that element happened in the book and UGH I love itttt. You don't understand. That part was sooo good and I shipped that couple right from the beginning. I especially love the male character :( he's so sweet :(

But as a whole I feel this book is drenched in american college traditions and it's not something I enjoy reading or even care about. It's also a little xenophobic. The plot is really complex and tangled and at the end we can really see how everything is connected and I think that was impressive. The characters were also compex and I like the consistent "concept" that the author put into the narrator, Jessica
the "do nothing" thing
.

These characters can be so stupid though. My review is done, this part is just a rant I have to let out. So the chapters are of the flashbacks and of the present time. In the present time, 10 years after college, when I expect these succesful characters to be smart, and they're just not. They're cringe. The whole interrogation thing felt so silly.
Eric claimed that he already investigated everything and yet he asked all these people one by one "did u do it?" so what the hell did u investigate then?? it just seemed like he knew nothing and wanted to point fingers to people. And the way they did the interrogation on the float (whatever that is) in front of everyone to see, and it was because they wanted to confront Frankie for ommiting a detail of his story. Yes, very adult. And Jessica, a partner in whatever company she worked in, still did not realize that a professor that assaulted one student would also assaulted many other students. Like, maybe that's the trauma or whatever, but her being clueless about it was really unecessary, bc I thought she was supposed to be smart? And when she ran away to the tower (present time), and Coop found her, she actually asked "how did u find me?" hhhhhhhhh gubluuuuuu itu kan tempatnya dia hhhhhhhhh cape
