3,5 stars. Got me out of a very long reading slump which I appreciate. Enjoyed most of the stories but a couple were weird..in a bad way (especially the ugly woman one, though i liked the plot of it). The baseball one bored me to death, since I have zero interest in it. First Murakami book I've ever read and I was surprised by how easy it was to read, yet so complex at the same time.

Murakami and the challenge to write a female character without graphic descriptions of her pubic hair (impossible) (failed)

Murakami has better stories. Would probably be satiating if you were a hardcore fan, though.

The version I read has a facepalming monkey as a cover. That's my reaction after finishing this book. So cringe and frustrating to read. Murakami ran out of idea and words, like a cook in denial who forced himself to make the same menu over and over again even though he ran out of ingredients to cook.

Im not gonna lie, 'Confessions of a Shinagawa Monkey' was easily a 4 star story for me personally. It was my favorite in the entire book. That being said, it was kind of a slow read for me, wasn't sure what I was expecting but, I enjoyed it for what it was.
