This isn’t working for me as an audiobook.  I’ll need to try it written.

I’ve been reading some pretty dense nonfiction lately, so I picked this up as a palette cleanser of sorts. I wanted something light, goofy, and quick to read, and this fit the bill. It was a cute story, didn’t take itself very seriously, but was enjoyable.

A fun read if you're looking for something light and not too serious. It's silly and a bit ridiculous (in a comedic way) thoughout.

This book starts off as entertaining and then turned into cringe for me. The humour felt too painstakingly forced and too slapstick for my liking. It wasn’t clever. At all.

I understand elements of fantasy stories can be a little out there but this gets more and more comical and outrageous that I wasn’t sure what I was reading due to lack of plot.

There were so many cameos of characters popping in and out and although you get to know Cecilia, Ned seemed very caricature along with the whole other cast of non memorable characters.

The writing itself isn’t bad , but I think these types of books is for a very specific type of reader and I’m not that.

Crafty banter. Cunning. Humorous. Witty. Twists and unexpected resolutions. A touch of romance with one real steamy scene… and a whole lot of silliness.

Nothing overly literary or contrived but some delightfully ridiculous enjoyment.

I loved this. I’ve always been a lover of pirate stories and this was just delightful. It feels like Bridgerton got hijacked by a book club of female thieves. All of the prim and proper expectations of young women with a heavy dose of weaponry and lethal attitudes. They fly houses instead of sailing ships. They whine when the priceless items they’ve stolen (usually with a name attached to it) have been broken by a stray bullet. They try to assassinate each other, poorly. It’s hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud at the absurdity of it all.

This was a cute book! It was not at all what I was expecting when I first got into it, being more fantasy-ish with magic rather than a silly historical fiction, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but it was quirky and fun with lots of whimsy. If you are a fan of the Enola Holmes movies, I think you’d enjoy this book!

Being a more predictable book that is more for easy reading than a gripping story, it started to drag on towards the end. There were multiple point I think the author could have ended it before the actual end came so I started skimming more at that point. But overall I enjoyed it!
