I don’t think I’ve ever been more confused but also know what’s going on at the same time while reading a book.

Oh I loved this. It was twisted. It was surreal. It was weird. I found myself wanting to know more and hoping the protagonist put herself in danger to do so. 😬 Normally I’m like, “no don’t go in there” but this book was so intriguing I kept hoping she’d go where she shouldn’t.

This was recommended on Reddit as a weird book and it for not disappoint. It was unflinchingly and deliciously bizarre and I was here for it.
There were parts that I found disjointed but in the context of  theunreliable narrator, it fit. I enjoyed the weaving in and out of the hive mind.

You know those episodes on TV shows where the twist is they are living in a fictional world they create in their mind and reality is them sitting in a mental hospital with their loved ones begging them to 'wake up'? This book felt a lot like that to me. It's not a bad thing, as I really enjoy those episodes.

The pacing of this is quite nice. It's pretty steady throughout. I found myself eager to know what happens next. By the halfway point, I was unsure what was real and what was created by the MC.

This would be a book I'd add to my 'Wish I could read it again for the first time' list for sure.

What the frick happened in this book. I don’t understand it and all the reviews that I found are literary as heck but it’s also so fricking confusing. I love the confusing. I thought I had a solid interpretation before I started reading review and was slam dunked by every other analysis. This book needs a reread. I want to reread it.

Samantha was a character I didn’t know I would like. I actually don’t like some aspects of her, but I also still enjoyed reading her perspective, especially with how trippy and literate it was. She is a good writer, I admit, and her perspective and wording of the world really helped immerse me in whatever the frick was going on.
