I am a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the television series, since it first aired. I have watched the complete season when it first aired, and then when it was released on DVD. I have watched the complete series a few times now, and the first season a few more than that. I watched Angel because I had Buffy withdrawals, and I collect any books and collectables that I can find and afford. However, I don't attend any events, buy expensive collectables or know Buffy trivia off my heart. This is to let you know while I LOVE the series, I would also watch any "remake" if any were made. I went into this graphic novel thinking that it was a rehash of Season One, or updated with newer outfits and hairdos. I was okay with the rehash, but didn't really want it to be updated. AND it was both and neither.

In this graphic novel, we have Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, Xander, Joyce and Giles as themselves with a nicer make over. (I will mention a few things without big spoilers) Biggest changes are that Joyce has a live-in (hot) boyfriend and Cordelia is not a bully. Buffy and Giles have already met and Buffy works at a fast food place. Willow has already come out and has a girlfriend, and Zander is already feeling alone. Spike, Drusilla and Anya are already in Sunnydale which is great! It ends with Angel making a small appearance and is making me salivating for book two. If they decided to make a show based on this premise, I seriously would not mind.

My final thought is on the art. I LOVE IT! They use the actors in the show as models for the characters and you can see little details that really bring them to life. There is some art in the back that if I was a teen again I would post on my walls. I highly recommend this graphic novel to fans like me...and to capture the newbie fans!

Liked the art and a lot of the new takes, a whole lot more Xander than I wanted though.

First off, this was interesting and I would have to say that I loved the illustrations of this! I’ve been looking forward to reading the comics like this and was glad I finally could. I know this wasn’t very long but 🤷‍♀️ I just have to say I enjoyed the illustrations

I was a Buffy fan back in the day, and this was a nostalgic read. Had the same sass and wit as the TV show, just slightly modernized. I'll probably stick with the series. It was a fun read.
