I think that everyone who has read Song of Achilles should read this book too, because it just gives a whole other vibe of the events, and actually portrays the Greeks as more of the bad guys. It was very well written and also very emotional at time. The one thing that I didn’t like was that there was a bit of extremely unnecessary fatphobia in this book. It had nothing to do with anything and felt like the author just included for no reason.
Read from the Provo library.

i can’t put into words how beautiful yet saddening this book was. barker manages to write in such an amazing way, and directly speaks to the audience too which i love. because of her writing, i felt sympathy for achilles, even after reading about how much of a horror he was. there’s nothing more i love than a retelling of a greek myth from the perspective of a woman!

I wanted less Achillies more Briesis/women…. since it’s called silence of the GIRLS but that’s just me. Still was interesting I just wanted less men but obviously with war men always gonna be there.

Very good. Sombre and emotional. The poetry of the song of Achilles contrasted with the silence of the girls was touching. The ending was particularly moving. However, I would have preferred not having Achilles’ POV, think the point would have been better served by the whole story being Briseis’ narration.

Opened really strongly, but the just got almost too repetitive. The ending was brilliant though.
