The only thing lacking for me in this beautiful retelling of The Iliad is the books namesake, the stories of the girls who lived through it. 

This packed a powerful punch, I like Briseis but halfway through the book the attention is drawn to mainly to Achilles. I believe the female voice I craved would have been more powerful, and wanted to know more about the many women of the Greek camp.

I enjoyed this book. It is similar to song of Achilles but also shows a darker side to both Patroclus and Achilles. Breseis is a compelling storyteller, sometimes making jokes at the darkest of times.
