Great story. So much meaning in so little words. Unreal.

“As he is no longer beautiful, he is no longer useful”

I’ve read this before and it’s just as depressing as I remember it.  It’s a short story of love, friendship, helping the poor & the needy, & being selfless.

In terms of imaginative storytelling it is wondrous, unfortunately the anti-Semitism that it entails is simply a product of its time and reflects greatly on society during the years of his height.

Although I do love Wilde's work, his writing can sometimes portray questionable political opinions which have not aged well. Nonetheless his work does encapsulate a reflection of class difference which is still prevalent today.
