This book made me genuinely so uncomfortable at times, and even though it was predictable i read it in a day and just could not put it down. And i loved the addressing her husband thing a lot.

HOWEVER. The author is VERY weird about sexuality at times (especially at the gallery and about breasts in general), it just keeps repeating the same stuff over and over, literally no one but Gemma is lovable or even tolerable in the whole book, and it’s just. overall extremely “meh”.

I definitely would recommend it to people but like, most of these reviews get the expectations HIGH. it wasnt worth the hype (even though i absolutely enjoyed it too)

wowowow this book is insane. I was skeptical at first but it draws you in in a way you don’t expect. The ending was both open ended and darkly rewarding.

jesus mary and joseph this book was a mindfuck. motherhood is so scary and this book only worsened my fear. this was a thrilling examination of generational trauma and, as the summary says, what happens when women aren’t believed.

it was admittedly very slow and takes place exclusively in this woman’s mind, so anyone looking for action or plot should not turn to this book. however, i found the internal monologue, paired with the flashbacks, very entertaining. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time, begging for some closure, some truth.

not my typical read but totally worth it.

a thoughtful and tense read that I couldn’t put down. I kept wanting to find out what was going to happen next and was sad when it was over.

The Push is a story of one woman trying to break the cycle of multi-generational dysfunction and trauma associated with motherhood, specifically the relationship between mothers and their daughters. But the cycle is harder to break when your concerns are dismissed as typical new mom jitters.

This psychological drama is a tense read that had me feeling uncomfortable from the very beginning as the author dives into the darkest fears of parenting with a first person narrative; instantly going where your mind refused to travel because it is so dark. This book left me emotionally drained, uncomfortable, and yet oddly satisfied. Would definitely recommend!

I highly suggest checking trigger warnings before diving in.

this was an interesting read. normally this wouldn’t be a book that I would read but I’m glad I read it. it shows a whole different perspective on motherhood and it a book that will make you speechless and stay with you for a while. I will probably think about this book every day at least especially before I will decide if I want to become a mother. this book feels unbelievably important and I’m glad that I read it since it’s dark and tens and questioning but also so heartachingly grotesque.
