I feel bad that I took so long to read Rayner's The Devil's Wind. It was a really solid piece of crime fiction with a great character set, a found back drop, and a solid plot. I was just unfortunately in a reading funk when I started the book. I'm glad I didn't abandon the novel though because I honestly couldn't put down the last eighty pages. Great story telling by Richard Rayner. I would only recommend this book to fans of crime fiction though, especially stuff set in earlier America. Young Vegas was an was setting for this mystery, being that Vegas really feels like a character itself. As cliche as that is.
