I read this book on holiday in Spain and it was a perfect read to get absolutely lost in, I couldn't put it down. Maybe a slightly odd contrast between all the dystopian violence and gore while sitting at the poolside or lying on the beach, but the perspective of the little Mushroom, our precious little An Zhe, made it feel much less depressing. There was also some humour here and there that genuinely made me laugh. Can't wait to read the second part of the duology.

This was recommended from a friend since they read the manhua and the art is amazing. I can either describe this book as supppper cute, or extremely morbid. Our main character An Zhe is just so pure and loveable and seeing him interact throughout the book is so cute. The ml can seem cold, but later on he is much more pleasant to our mc. The sci-fi elements of this novel is intriguing enough without being to confusing. The descriptions of the monsters were done well and having humans vs nature as the dynamic will always get me. In the end this novel had be giggling and kicking my feet like a little girl when it wasn't being dark and morbid. I also thank this novel for my new love of potato soup :D
