This was a wonderful book- read in 24 hours. I read the book thinking I knew what would happen at the end- I was pleasantly surprised and hope for a sequel!

I really enjoyed the opening chapters. Felt a little lost once it became modern times. Creative but wasn't as captivating as I hoped.

Loved it. I may have found myself a new author to keep an eye on. I found the story and characters pretty believable. As I reached the end, I had trouble putting it down... just ask my husband. He accused me of being anti-social while on vacation! Sorry, but I had to know how it ended!

I do like Jojo Moyes' books for a light and easy read. However this one had too many coincidences and parts of the plot were just too unbelievable, hence the 3 stars.

There are a couple of nice, sweet love stories here, but nothing really original or memorable.

I'm not ranking this one because, honestly, I couldn't get through it. I REALLY wanted to - I'm a big Jojo Moyes fan. But, this one just wasn't doing it for me. I got to the point where Sophie had to work through her choice and found it all so disturbing I just didn't want to follow it through. I'm not opposed to difficult choices - I'm a big "Me Before You Fan" and that book is all about a horrible choice, but I just couldn't finish this one. Doesn't seem fair for me to skew the rankings of people who read it all the way through, so I'm not starring it, but it didn't work for me.

More like a 3.75⭐️

I liked that it was focused on world war 1 and also the two timelines running together was great

3.5 I haven't read much that takes place during WW1. It's amazing me to the way people act during war time. Makes me grateful I have not been put through that test. Was a little sad I wasn't totally on board with the 2nd story's protagonist's conflict for a while, but that may have been the author's intent now that I am on the other side of it.
