Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny by Rebekah Weatherspoon is the first book in the "Loose Ends" series. This book is about Dr. Sloan Copeland, M.D who is a single mother to two twin daughters, Avery and Addison. Dr. Copeland needs to find a new babysitter and she gets a recommendation about a male Nanny named Rafe. Well, his references are good and he has the experience so he might be the right person for the job, it also helps that he's very handsome and fit. Will Dr. Copeland and Rafe keep things strictly professional, or will they pursue each other due to mutual attraction?

This romance/erotica felt cozy and wholesome for the most part, it's advertised as low angst and I definitely agree with that assertion. Although the story was cute, it wasn't one of my favorite romance stories but I'm glad I read it, though this isn't a book I could see myself reading again. I did however like the little surprise in the epilogue. I'm a 30 year old non-binary women who is child free by choice, so it's possible that's the reason this story didn't resonate with me.

The spicy scenes were nice, I appreciate that the couple used condoms until
they got married in the epilogue
. I'm giving the spicy scenes three chilies 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of five chilies

Overall this romance/erotica was cute. I'm giving this 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I was really excited for this one and it fell short.

Things I liked:
- no third act breakup
- Rafe?? Super hot, super smooth, super cute
- the quiche scene? Yes absolutely
- the blurb on the cover was genuinely funny
- I enjoyed the beginning
- really cute and amazing mother-daughters relationship
- amazing, successful, single mother

Things I liked not so much:
- this book would’ve greatly benefitted from a round or two more of editing. There are typos, missing words, and grammatical issues that take away from a really fun story
- writing felt kind of flat at times, wish there as some more dynamic sentence structure
- forced back and forth dialogue to provide backstory and move the plot along
- scenes and chapters rarely felt complete
- would benefit from more show, less tell; pretty much everything was just told
- no transitions, scenes just felt kind of forced together
- definitely times where I was confused
- literally said “ha what” when all of a sudden it was three years later in the epilogue
- went way too fast for me

I overall just think it was underdeveloped. Conflicts were introduced and resolved on the same page, facts and moments that could’ve been developed really well were just mentioned in passing. I was left wanting more, but not in a good way, and I think most of these issues could’ve been resolved with more editing.

I will be reading Xeni, however. Rebekah did leave me interested in Xeni.

Complete and utter fantasy/wish fulfillment and I loved it. A man who is sweet and gentle, loves kids, takes care of a huge portion of domestic stuff AND is totally up front about his feelings and communicates well?? Yes. Please. Plus our leading lady is a heart surgeon at the top of her game who leans on her friends and stands up for herself.

I also liked that the two main characters just followed their feelings and the conflict in the story came from external sources. Sometimes I don't want the angst that comes with a romance story, and found this refreshing. That being said, I don't think either character had any flaws?? Which conversely made things feel a little too easy and unrealistic/unrelatable; I wish there'd been a bit more character and relationship development.

The version I read also had a good handful of mistypes and extra or missing words. And the steamy scenes were...fine? I've read way more interesting sex scenes from other authors AND from Weatherspoon herself. Lastly, there were a number of moments when we would be introduced to a bunch of side characters all at once with no real distinguishing features between them, and I had a hard time keeping names/characters straight when they would come up later.

BUT overall this was delightful fluff.
