This was a very boring read. I've read the previous two novels in this series and both were pretty exciting. But this novella bored me to tears. It got to the point where I skipped pages just to get to a semi interesting portion where I didn't feel like falling asleep. For example, Daisy literally calls Nick "dramatic" no less than seven times throughout the course of the book. Like okay, I got it the first time. The writing style of this author isn't fabulous, but the plot lines of the previous books made up for that. Here? Neither lived up to my standard of decent.

I do not know if it was done on purpose or not, but this novella works splendidly as a stand alone. You know how some, kind of work, but things still bother you? Well here I was told things, and I could just ease myself into the story. The story shows how their life goes on.

Of course that does not mean that I do not want to know more about how they met. It would be interesting too see. I know things now, but to actually see it, interesting.

Right, so this is a novella about Daisy and Nick. Nick is a former killer for the Russian mafia and he has started a new life now. He is the big strong brooding kind of guy. "They bother you? I kill them." Ok to be honest, a bit too protective, but sometimes a girl just wants to feel safe.

Daisy's dad home schooled her and did not let her go outside. It was weird, I liked reading about her, but I did not like her. She was so awkward (well duh), naive and was all I need frieeeeends! Most of the time when I meet characters like this I do not like then and do not care to read about them. But I liked reading about her (even if I did not like her personality, we could so not be friends, sure she is nice and would bake me cookies but girl, you are too insecure.) But to read about, aye that I liked.

The book is about...well I can't tell you everything. These two moving on with life, doing it a lot. Her wanting friends and, omg, does someone know where they are? or not?

Sex and danger. I enjoyed it, and would like more.

So in my review of Last Hit/Last Gift I wrote “I wish I could read more about Nick and Daisy, even their daily life!” thinking that their story was over, but what do you know, it wasn’t! There’s more! My wish was granted, just like that! You can imagine the amount of fangirling that was involved when not only did I find out there was another novella about them, but the authors were also offering me a copy! Answer: a lot, there was a lot of fangirling involved.

But down to business.

If we got a glimpse of how Nick and Daisy were adjusting to their new life in “Last Gift”, now in this novella we get a full view of that. So.. how are they adjusting to their new life? Not so well, apparently. Each of them because of their own reasons, they’re struggling because they want to have a normal life but they (again, each because of their own reasons) have no clue what “normal” is. So they observe the people around them, they try to fit it in the clumsy, adorable way that was their signature in “Last Hit”, and they don’t always succeed. But their undying love is still there. We get to see Nick’s devotion towards Daisy (how I’d missed that! Nick has become my ultimate book crush, I mean he's the perfect combination of lethal and adorable, how possible can you resist that?) and his attempts to respect as much of Daisy’s freedom as possible despite his (more than justified after all that's happened to them) protective nature, and (something that I was not expecting and that pleasantly surprised me) how darker Daisy’s thoughts are becoming now that she’s with Nick, and how she’s just as ready to protect Nick as he is to protect her. Also, threats don’t always come from one’s past, but they are constantly around, ready to strike, and Nick and Daisy have many of them, they probably always will, but they are ready to fight for their happiness, that’s the ultimate message, and IMO the one that matters the most. The only thing I felt slightly bad about is
Spoilerthe fact that Christine didn’t get to have a closure, she’s now free but we don’t get to see her appreciate this fact, then again it is something that takes time I guess.

I enjoyed this novella a lot, (I wish it was longer, I’ll never get enough of these two!!) and I’m sure every fan of Nick and Daisy will love it too just as much as I did.

Seriously, how can you not love this couple. They truly are too adorable. I love how we get to see them try to adapt into a new routine. I love Nick even more, especially when he tried to put together a party, my heart literally melt, but I couldn't help but laugh at that scene. I really want more from them.

A quick story updating what Nick & Daisy are up to after Regan & Daniel went to Texas in Last Breath.  The two are attending college classes and trying to fit in with the public.  Nick has a flair for art and Daisy is trying to make friends.  She befriends a fellow student who has an abusive boyfriend who brings out Nick's hitman side he's trying to hide.  Along the way, a detective is following Nick making things uncomfortable.

I really enjoyed this novella and here we get to catch up with one of my all-time favourite book couples Daisy and Nikolai. They are now living their new life as two college students. Nikolai, as usual, was totally on point with all of his literal interpretations he does make me smile he’s just so adorably clueless and it’s obvious just how much he adores Daisy so much so it made my heart glow.

There’s lots of passion and heart here some mild intrigue as Daisy try’s to help out a friend in the process managing to place herself in direct danger. There’s also a dirty cop sniffing around but my favourite thing about this novella was just getting to again spend time with Daisy and Nikolai they are absolutely adorable together. This was a decent length and such a pleasure to read.

ARC copy from author Jen Frederick.

My favorite hitman and his Daisy are back and better than ever!! I adored Nick and Daisy in Last Hit and was so happy when I was offered the opportunity to advance read this installment of the series.

Nick and Daisy are living, loving, attending college in Minnesota and trying their best to fit in. They are finding it harder than they expected to be "normal" and fit into today's society. Daisy especially feels shunned by her female peers and feels like an outcast. She meets another student, Christine, who seems just as awkward and lonely as she is and begins a tentative friendship. Christine comes with her own set of challenges, that may prove to be problematic for Daisy and Nick.

I so loved reading this book. Nick and Daisy are still madly in love with each other and their sex scenes have only gotten hotter! Despite the challenges they face from the outside world, their commitment to each other never wavers. Everything they do is to make the other happy. One of my favorite bits was "The Party". It was such a "Nick" thing to do for his Daisy. I just wished I could have jumped in and helped. I am also intrigued by the newest character. He seems quite interesting and I am hoping that he has a story to tell.

For anyone who hasn't yet read the books in the Hitman series, what are you waiting for?! Go read them and fall in love with Nick and Daisy like I have.

4 reloaded stars!

You know what this is? This is what I love about reading. When you open a book because you're curious to see how these two characters have developed and you kinda miss them and then all of a sudden the book comes to life and it sucks you into the story and you read slower than possible cause you don't want it to end. Ever.

That's the kind of book this is!

We met Nick and Daise in Last Hit, now to be honest that book wasn't a major hit for me, it had some pretty good moments but it felt kind of over the top at times. So when I saw this I thought oh why not, I sort of miss Nick's Russian accent; I'm so glad I did! Nick is... Nick. That's the only way to describe him, he's dramatic but not in a humorous over the top way, it's like he's always translating himself and he come off as this Russian royal that actually means every word, the hitman that will literally kill someone for little to no reason and the sweet guy that wants to show his love for Daise, he's genuine and unique.

“Who has made you unhappy?” I ask immediately. Looking around I see only average students. Have any of them insulted her? I will demand they apologize.

Daisy is still the naive girl that is trying to break out of her shell and fit into this world she's never really been a part of, the first book kind of made it more possible for her to be normal since she had a new friend and all but now with Nick who is equally unable to act normal and escape from his Bratva ways and the hitman life style, the two stick out like a sore thumb and the harder they try to fit the more messed up it gets, it was funny and adorable seeing they struggle with normalcy in public but act so domestic and normal in private.

And speaking of domestic and private; Nick is one hell of a dirty talker but again he's not doing it on purpose, he actually means every word and his vocabulary is honest and raw, for him, words are simply words that describe an action or a feeling, he doesn't try to beautify it, it just it.

“You've a dirty mouth,” she says. The smile dancing around the corners of her mouth is Mona Lisa mysterious.
I draw a hand across my lips. “My words you mean?”

Oh yes Nick, your words!

Loved it so much! I would've totally given it 5 stars but the length made me hold back I wish it wasn't a novella because I wanted MORE NICK!!!!
