This is a book my mom would read to my sister and me as a child. It was always one of her favorites, and I think it's because it's set in Texas and somehow reminds her of her childhood and "culture". This made it a special book.

Besides, it's a really sweet book.
It's funny, cute, and has some really profound lessons rooted in the book of Proverbs in the Bible.

A collection of stories about a group of animals living in Big Thicket, someplace down in Texas. Absolutely hilarious, with good lessons--a great read-aloud.
