Very much enjoyed going on another adventure with Lady. H and her maid Flo. I love both of these women. They make a wonderful, witty, intelligent and endlessly interesting detective duo.
The overall tone of the narration from Flo is humourous, allowing for a relaxing and engaging cosy mystery read. I really enjoyed the little snippits we got throughout the story elluding to their adventure filled past and fleshing out what we already know about the characters.
We have a couple returning faces from the first book and the close-nit, cosy nature of a mystery based in a small village is becoming more apparent as books go on and characters and places return. This creates a claustrophobic but also familiar setting, allowing for only a small number of suspects and most of the characters are involved with eachother in one way or another!
The mystery itself in this installment was very intriguing. We ended up with three separate mysteries to solve by the end and the way they were all brought together and the twists and turns we took to find the answers kept me very entertained. I did not guess the culprits!
The relationship between Flo and Emily continues to bring me joy while reading these stories. Their comfort with eachother, the love and trust their share and mostly their endless humour and search for fun and adventure- despite both of them always insisting their just trying to live a 'peaceful life'. I can't wait to find out what trouble they get up to next.

Still an adorable pair in adorable settings solving dastardly crimes. It's another quick, fun read in the series.

Bitty. Too many plot threads with the protagonists dashing hither and thither. Still quite funny in places
