🦢 A Treachery of Swans 🦢 

Odile has spent years being prepared by her adoptive father, for the heist that would change the course of history. The end game is to restore the magic that was outlawed, so that people like her father, and her, can live free. To achieve her goal she will need to impersonate Marie D’Odette, and infiltrate the royal palace. However, Odile soon realises she will need more than just the face of the Princess…she’s going to need her help.

I was very excited for this - as I love Swan Lake - and a sapphic retelling?? I was sold. However, sadly something fell a little flat for me. The premise was good, the world and magic system were pretty cool, however, I felt that we only really scratched the surface with them. The characters, and especially the relationships between them - so Odile and her brother, Odile and Marie - were again so superficial I just wasn’t invested at all. It’s such a shame cause the writing was pretty good, but the delivery of the story just didn’t work for me. 

I particularly disliked that it felt like it was gearing up to a massive cliffhanger ending, quite rushed - and then had an epilogue chapter to end the story with what felt like a massive chunk of information missing.
