ALESSA AND DANTE I LOVE YOU.
Why did it take me this long to read book 2? This series has become such a comfort read. It’s silly and beautiful and emotionally damaging in the best ways. Obsessed.

Rating this a bit higher than I normally would because it’s this author’s debut series. I had to put this down halfway through but finished the remainder in a day. I am a big fan of character driven stories which is the strength here so I’ll definitely be checking out her next works.
This was a really great ending to this duology! This Vicious Grace was a strong book, one of my favorites the year it came out, so the sequel had some high expectations to meet, and I feel that overall it did meet them well. We got to stay invested in our favorite characters, while meeting some new fun characters. There was a lot of romantic drama, with so many wonderful Alessa and Dante moments especially. For me Dante especially came out strong, Seeing his honest struggle with his identity and ghosts from his past was done so well, the best part of the story for me. In addition to romance and identity crises, there's also a new war to prepare for, with secrets and betrayals that could put everything at risk. I wouldn't say the way it ended was the biggest shock, but there were some things about it I didn't expect, and overall I think it was a great conclusion. I can't wait to see what Emily Thiede comes up with next!

Yes, yes, yes!!!!
The perfect sequel to a perfect duology.
I adored this book, and I was giggling and kicking my feet like a lovesick school girl anytime Dante and Alessa interacted with each other. Emily Thiede KNOWS how to write heart melting romance! The relationship between the two is so pure and beautifully written, I felt my heart turn into a puddle as I read. The way their love is depicted through writing as well as their actions and emotional connection with one another is spectacular.
I love the new characters that were introduced, the new setting, the new lore. The plot was materfully crafted and I was on the edge of my seat, sobbing and begging the author to show mercy.
The ending had me bawling my eyes out- they finally got their happily ever after, after everything they went through. Watching the characters grow through Emily Thiede’s writing is an amazing experience, one of poetry.
I cannot describe the way this book made me feel in coherent words. Just wow.
One of my best reads for 2024 and ever!!

I did not like this as much as the frist, but it was definitely good! I really would have liked a different ending, instead of this being wrapped up in a duology. It felt a little too rushed and wrapped up by the end of it, for what the lead up was. Im not sure how it could have been extended realistically which is the reason I concede the duology was a smart call. The book went pretty quickly, with short chapters that made me keep saying "oh the next one is only a few pages, one more chapter" rinse and repeat. I really love that kind of strategy in books to keep readers like myself engaged. I couldnt put this one down!
