I loved how the romance continues from the first book and gave me all the fluff so many authors deny me while still having tension and angst! It's so hard to find this in fantasy books. This book had me giggling, arguing with loved ones who wanted my attention, and, eventually, crying so hard it made my eyes burn. Would have liked a bit more on the end other than an epilogue. I loved the themes laced into this book ❤️

If you enjoyed “This Vicious Grace,” you’ll like “This Cursed Light.” In fact, I liked it more than the first book.
The book is very similar to the first in that there’s training with a countdown until a final battle. I suppose it could be a bit repetitive if you read the books back-to-back, but since it’s been a while since I read the first, I didn’t mind. I enjoyed seeing Dante and Alessa have different roles during the preparation for battle, and how it affected their established relationship. If the first book was Alessa’s, this is definitely Dante’s. I LOVED Dante in this.
There are some plots with side characters that I shrugged at (I don’t forgive Adrick for the whole poison thing), and some scenes could have been shown rather than mentioned afterward, but it’s an addictive read that captured my attention.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Very nice sequel and end to the duology. My issues with the first book remain, the worldbuilding was sparse and some characters felt one dimensional. However the plot was good, the pacing was enought I keep you engaged and while part of the ending was predictable there was a twist I didn't see coming which I liked.

I love a good flirty banter YA fantasy and this book has it in spades. I understand the main reason for that is because Dante and Alessa became a couple in the first book and then can’t touch each other. Sometimes we back peddle in second books and it drives me crazy, but this one was a little different. Did they both drive me a little batty with the lack of communication about mid-way through the book? Yes. They were both hiding IMPORTANT things from each other, but I also get it. It didn’t super affect the plot, but was also kind of like “you guys need to tell your secrets!”
Overall I just lived for Dante and Alessa. I did enjoy the other characters too like Alessa’s brother. This is a bit like a found family and a literal found family.
As for the end…I didn’t hate it. It kind of ties back into the end of book 1, which made sense. The whole gods thing was annoying, but that’s also kind of the point of gods playing with humans. I think, though, the end was a little lackluster for me. All this build-up to that? Hm. The reader also knows this has to have a HEA so the ending I think lost part of its emotional element, but did bring on the curiosity to see how it would resolve.
Overall, I enjoyed the duology and am glad I read it. It kind of fits into the type of YA Fantasy that reminded me why I got into fantasy (and romantasy).

DNF. Too much preteen tone. Lots of squabbling and useless banter. Felt like Marvel took over, lol. The stakes are raised but we don’t really feel it. I couldn’t bring myself to care. Which sucks because I LOVED the first book.

Some of it was predictable, but it was still very entertaining and I was happy with the ending!
