Honestly, I just didn't enjoy this as much as book one. It fell flat in places for me and the ending was okay.

DID NOT FINISH: 22%

Way too many innuendos on almost every single page, despite the characters actively discussing how trauma from book 1 has affected their way of life. Plot felt messy and too much telling rather than showing.

This book committed the worst crime possible, being boring. Nothing happened until the last 5th of the book, the conflict was stupid, the ending was stupid. The whole time I was told the main character was being overcome by some dark power but never did it manifest in any meaningful way. It was a struggle to get through, really.

It took me ages to pick up and I don't know why as I loved book one.

This is the 2nd and final book in the series and straight away I fell back in love with the characters and this world. We pick up a little while after book 1 where Dante is trying to find purpose since he lost his powers and Alessa is finishing up her tour with her Fontes after they all saved the world from the demon attack.

Alessa wants a quite life with Dante but he cant rest he has no powers, he cant touch Alessa as her power will hurt him and he has a vision of more pain to come from the Gods.

Dante & Alessa go to find Dante's people the exiled Ghiotte who he believes they need to help him but this comes with its challenges due to generations of hate between the Ghiotte & Saverio people. This made for some funny banter between characters and also Dante character ARC this book where he feels torn between his heritage and finding his people and Alessa and their love.

The last few chapters of this book was so emotional and I didn't know what was going to happen right up to the end.
