Wow! This book was so, so good! One of my favorite reads of the year! This was such a beautiful story between the two characters and what they go through to make it work! There were some heavy things going on within the story with some of the other characters, but it is what made this whole book so good! Anyone who chose to DNF this because of the references to Rhysand from ACOTAR missed out on such a beautifully written story!

Do I recommend this? Yes, 100 times yes! This was so good!

This was a beautiful story that I devoured in less than 2 days. This book has so many beautiful quotes that made me wish I was a person who annotated books. Throughout the book there are mentions of how these little things brought color to a gray world. The colors versus the gray followed the characters moods.

I absolutely loved Samantha and Xavier. They were relatable and I could feel their struggles through this book. I laughed with them and I cried with them. I enjoyed how their story went, the highs and the lows.

This book has mental health rep but also tough life experiences for the characters. All were handled well by Abby. This is a book I could see myself reading again and again.

Two incredibly winsome and selfless characters tortured needlessly for 90% of this book almost lost me, but the reflections on grief and devotion kind of redeemed it. Do read content/trigger warnings.

"This is why I hated humans. They were the worst animals on the planet."

"Because if you were my wife you would be my world. Everything starts with you and ends with you. Anything else is just the stuff that happens in the middle."

"think we grow up and we either get harder or we get softer on our parents. We realize how fucked up they actually were or we give them a pass because adulting is hard and now we get it. They’re people and they make mistakes."

Abby Jimenez has done it again. 2nd book I loved from her. I laughed, cried and all the feels. 🥺🤧🤍

The only trigger I had was Xavier's parents' verbal abuse... The gaslighting, flip the blame, etc.

Lots of mixed feelings about this one…I love Abby Jimenez and will read anything she writes, but this one didn’t resonate with me. There was so much family drama that it overpowered the romance, and while I usually enjoy getting to know characters through their families, here it just felt like too much. The story felt super repetitive, some of the TikTok references made me cringe, and overall it felt like the tone stayed sad for too long. That said, I did love the animal rescue/vet angles and Hank totally stole the show in his short scene. Not my favorite Abby, book but okay overall and I could definitely see someone else loving it.

Heartbreaking and beautiful story about love and how it feels and lasts, even when the detailed memories fade

Probably one of the best of Jimenez's books that I've read. However, as a person who's endured a cross-country, long distance relationship for 2 and a half years with the person I ended up marrying... I couldn't help but feel like Xavier and Samantha were going overboard. Like, I get it. I circled around my wife for almost three years before we officially started dating because we didn't want to do long distance. But, the circumstances made sense to us and we made peace with it, including making peace with being too poor to see each except three to four times a year.

This novel did shine, however, in the care and grief surrounding Samantha's family. I believed the way Xavier fit right into the fold. Their struggles were valid, and I bought that both MCs held deep desires to support and be supported by their favorite person. Ultimately, the book was enjoyable.
