Again, another amazing read that completely captivated me.
This wasn’t as good as the first Outlander book, but still very good. The beginning and ending scenes in 1968 felt hard to get through; I’m not at all interested in Roger Wakefield or whether he or anyone else believes Claire’s truth.
The time Claire & Jamie spent in France also became tired some. Cocktail parties in Versailles just wasn’t as exciting to me as the Scotland Highlands, and I was glad when the story shifted and they left France.
I think overall, this book did too much. It takes place over 2 years and so much happens, there is so much detail available that it became jarring to read at times. I felt whiplashed going from one crisis to the next so quickly.
The end with Claire & Jamie completely broke me; I sobbed. I was annoyed at the onset with the 20 year time span (it’s too long a time to be apart!) but knowing the circumstances that lead up to it now, the 20 years apart did make sense, but still upsets me :)
The one thing I cannot forgive about this book is the treatment or glossing over of Jonathan Randall’s character based on the events from the first book. He’s a complete monster, and his recurrences in Dragonfly In Amber seemed to at times negate what happened and what he did.

This wonderful story continues. I admit I was a little leery about the beginning because it started in the 1960's with Claire's present life and was too slow in my opinion, but when it returned to Claire and Jamie's adventures, I felt at ease once again.
