Incredibly funny but also poignant look into the life of a doctor. Making me respect even more the work of doctors, nurses etc and the NHS in general.

I'm just inherently not interested in this topic, I read this for bookclub and I've avoided it prior to this as it's just not a particularly interesting subject to me.

It was amusing in parts but in others i just found myself skipping over, it didn't really add much to my overall understanding of NHS life, but i also have a few friends who work within the underfunded institution so I am fairly aware of the pitfalls and horrific working conditions.

I also felt the tone was a bit off in parts, and he came off a bit smug in others.

Just not for me.

Read it in a day, so much happens and all of it is so well written. I bloody love the NHS.

I listened to this on audiobook and it’s narrated by Adam Kay. It is an incredibly eye opening book and a deep dive into the pressures everyone working in the NHS face on a daily basis and the lack of support they receive in return. A must read.

i just finished reading this and i am shook .I cant believe that we are in the 21st century yet people have to go through such torture constantly. i cant believe there is nothing we can do. i have a sister who's gonna become a doctor because of parental pressure, I have a friend. i cant believe that this is how the most important profession is treated..this is how we treat the people we put our lives in the hand of. The title was true, this is going to hurt and it should hurt for this hurt is nothing faced with what these people go through.I am grateful to this book for bringing me awareness about this topic and helping me make some major decisions of my own life.
