While, admittedly, all Dan Brown books follow a very similar pattern, it is still a very intriguing and thought provoking read. Through a series of unexpected plot twists, we get to travel along with the infamous professor through Florence, Venice and Istanbul while he follows the clues of a madman in order to save the world (again..!).

Ok so this book was a typical Dan Brown Robert Langon book. Truth be told I got very bored in parts of this book. That being said the descriptions of Italy, and Venice were incredible. I could literally picture the scenes.

The plot through me for a loop though. It was fun, entertaining, and the mystery was great to try and figure out but the actual plot line was too far-fetched to me. This book starts out with Professor Langdon waking up in an Italian hospital, after getting shot in the head, with amnesia. He has no idea why or how he go there. He is soon being chased and shot at by and assassin. A woman is helping him her name is Sienna. Later they start being chased around Italy by an army of soldiers as Robert and Sienna try to piece together the clues on why Robert's in Italy. It all seems to be connected to Dante's Divine Comedy and a mad scientist named Zobrist. Like I said a little far-fetched and kind of hard to find even remotely realistic.

The only think remotely realistic in this book are the places. Dan Brown did his research of Italy well. He must have visited all the places in a book because they were accurate and beautifully rendered. I loved reading about the places in Italy, Venice, etc. more than actually trying to read the plot. That being said the plot was still interesting enough to keep me riveted and to keep me reading. I wanted to know what the big mystery at the end was and to tell you the truth even that was a little far-fetched and kind of disappointing. Though it seems I am in the minority with my feelings on this book, it was still good though not great and I would still say I recommend reading it. I just won't reread it.

It's a Dan Brown book, so it's not awful, however this one was... much worse than the others. He tried to cram in way too many art history facts. I usually enjoy all the facts, but this was just too much, the story got lost in his effort to cram in so much information. Also, the storyline was weaker, and much more predictable than usual. There were definitely some twists, but this was kind of a letdown because of my high expectations of Dan Brown.
