As I was reading this I kept thinking that these two just can’t catch a break. But the interesting thing was the difference in attitude that all the hardships they’ve encountered have given them. Now granted Raleigh’s past has a darker tone, but they both have dealt with their own struggles. And while both of them have grown into great people – kind, caring, giving, loving … the difference is that Raleigh doesn’t expect life to do anything but to continue to push him down. But that definitely has something to do with the types of things he’s dealt with. The fact that he’s survived to be such a good and well-loved person, shows a definitely depth of character. Mia’s also had her share of struggles but she’s learned to embrace life a little more easily. She could easily have given up at any moment or at least turned bitter, but she’s definitely taken the higher road.

I loved these two together and the entire book gave me a warm and squishy, even while I was upset at the newest curveball life had thrown at them. Just plain heart-warming (and a little heart-breaking), Falling Fast is one of those delightful feel good reads that leave you smiling at the end … and I can’t wait to see what’s Waincott’s bringing next!

I typically read a book in about two days. The fact that it took me four days to finish this book is a reflection of the incredibly slow pacing. The basis for this second chance love story is heartwarming; however, the execution is flawed. Right from the beginning Mia forgives Raleigh for his part in the car accident that left her disfigured. Placing this so early in the story leaves nowhere for the plot to go. Raleigh finds it difficult to belief that he’s worthy of absolution, despite Mia’s continued reassurances to the contrary, and it grew rather tiresome.

There’s very little conflict and what there is feels drawn out. The author throws in a little drama at the 75% mark but it isn’t enough to salvage the story.

For my tastes, alternating point of view stories written in the third person are a hard sell unless extremely well executed. Unfortunately with the cliché writing style this book just didn’t resonate with me.

Falling Fast is a sweet second chance romance. Mia and Raleigh fell in love when she was visiting her grandmother. She 17 & he was 19. She was sheltered and innocent he treated her like she was precious and beautiful. Then they crashed as he was racing illegally. She went to the hospital and he went to jail. They haven’t spoken or been in contact for seven years thanks to her parents interference. Now she is back and they can get some closure. But the fire is still there. Can they make it work this time or will life throw them another curve?
Falling Fast starts out slow but these two will suck you in and keep you turning pages. The story is sweet without being saccharine. I so wanted to see these two get together and if it wasn’t one thing it was another so I was thrilled when they finally got together. Bring on Pax’s story.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review.

Wow, what an unlucky couple. Raleigh and Mia's lives were shattered one night after a reckless act of being young and stupid. Now years later, a death pulls them back together and they still have those feelings. I enjoyed the read and seem to always have a good time with what this author writes. The ending was a real good twist. Four stars of entertainment!

When Mia was 17, she went to visit her grandma in Florida. While she's there, she meets 19 year old Raleigh and falls in love. She is the first person to make him feel like he's worth something and he's the first person to make her feel alive. After a horrible accident, Raleigh and Mia are separated. Fast forward 7 years and Mia returns to Florida following the death of her grandma. No matter how much time has passed, some things stay the same and seeing Raleigh again awakens the old feelings they had for each other. I really enjoyed this story, it was a beautiful second chance love story that kind of reminded me of the Notebook but with more drama. I really liked these characters and can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This wasn't what I expected and it took me days to finish and that says a lot, it went super slow, super slow, and after 70% it felt like a complete other story. What started as a second-chance romance between these two characters that had a traumatic past turned into them bonding again while fixing her grandma's old house and that turned into a weird mystery find the bad guy thingy, I honestly don't know what it was, parts of it were really good, others not so much, all together, it felt like too many sub-plots trying to fight for dominance. I did expect a bit of car stuff, from the blurb and the cover too, instead I got the handyman that kept going over tiles and colors and stuff.

Great pace and story line. The characters were thoughtfully written and you truly felt invested in their lives. Mia was a great heroine but it was Raleigh who really stood out for me in this story.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Yay second chance romance!!!!! Who doesn't love a good "we are older and wiser and huge idiots for letting the past rip us apart" story. Of course it's not always as simple as that and this book is a doozy.

Raleigh and Mia spent a wonderful summer together. As a child Mia was diagnosed with cancer and fought it for 7 years. The summer she met Raleigh she in remission. She intentionally didn't tell him about it because she didn't want Raleigh to treat her any differently. Unfortunately for the both of them, that summer ended when a car accident put them in the hospital. They were both badly injured and then Raleigh ended up going to jail as well. The accident happened during a drag race and despite the fact that it wasn't his fault, he was the one who got punished.

It is now seven years later and Mia returns to bury her grandmother. Raleigh is out of jail and working on buying the garage he now works at. Their reunion is less than stellar, but mostly because Mia's parents blame Raleigh for the accident and try to keep Mia away from him. Sure Mia is a healthy adult and can make her own choices, but her parents don't see it that way.

At the reading of her grandmother's will everyone gets quite a shock. She left her house to Mia AND Raleigh. They are to fix it up, sell it and then split the money. Sounds easy enough right? And she even comes right out and says that this isn't a ploy to get them back together and I couldn't help but laugh.

As Mia and Raleigh start to fix the house, they start spending time together. They find out that Mia's parents had been preventing the two of them from reconnecting. They both had been living on the notion that they just didn't want to see one another and they couldn't have been more wrong. They start to grow close and they just cannot deny the fact that they both still have feelings for each other.

I loved Mia and Raleigh's relationship. Even when they were young they just clicked and seemed to understand one another. But I find their current relationship so much more interesting. They have so many obstacles to get over throughout the course of this book, the biggest being themselves. Raleigh doesn't feel worthy of a second chance with Mia. As much as she tells him the accident wasn't his fault, Raleigh still blames himself. He knows that Mia struggled in her recovery and she had to do it without him by her side. They met when they were young, but the love they felt for each other was as real as it gets. And now that they are older and wiser, they can make things work.

There was a whole secondary story line involving Raleigh's father. I'm not really sure that it was needed, but late in the book it did help prove a point that Mia was committed to Raleigh and was willing to stand by him no matter what. I loved that Mia stood by him when things got super complicated. Nothing says "I love you" like "I don't care if you might go back to jail, I'm not going anywhere." Intrigued yet?

I look forward to the future books in this series. For the most part, this book was a light read. There was some drama, but enough to take away from the story. I believe the next book is about Raleigh's friend Pax who I really liked in this book. He has an interesting story and can't wait to learn more about him as well as maybe checking in with Mia and Raleigh to see how they are doing.
