It's been a while since I read a Scott Turow book. I've really liked all of his I've read until this one. It was a little dry at times and a slow read. The subject matter should have been interesting enough but I just never got into it.

I gave this book 100 pages and stopped. Oh so boring, and I don't want to waste my life. Scott Turow doesn't need me!

I love Scott Turow, but I couldn't get into this one. Long on pedantic explanations of a conflict most of us know little about, short on action. I was almost halfway into it before I gave up, but I just couldn't slog my way through it anymore.

Entertaining. It's not canonical by any stretch, but fun.

Listened to the Audiobook. It was a struggle because the narrator was terrible with accents. One character had a somewhat Australian accent and another a posh British accent. By the end of sentences for those characters the narrator was clearly falling out of the accent.

Some lovely writing but the story is so predictable...

This book could have been shorter. I felt like the ending dragged on for about 200 pages.

And I can say this because I'm a 50+ divorced woman, but reading sex scenes from the POV of a 50+ divorced man, the scenes were more, "ew" than sexy.

As Goodread's review says, "a twist-filled thriller." Set in The Hague, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the States as a disillusioned American attorney decides to have a new adventure. Serbian warlords, alleged war crimes and war criminals on the loose, discrimination against Roma people -- fascinating. Probably more interesting to me because of time spent in the area.

A different kind of book for him. I learned quite a bit of history from this book
