This was good, felt like a VE Schwab novel. Darker than a lot of YA, but still clearly YA. I fell in love with the characters from the beginning, especially August. The overall plot seemed a little.... incomplete to me, which partially makes sense given this is a duology, but I did feel like there was something missing.
Fascinating world, I hope we dive deeper into the politics and dynamics in the next book.

3.75-The premise was fascinating and I was excited about what was to come. August’s struggle to be human was heart tugging. I was hoping for a romantic relationship between the two leads but it fell flat. The twists were amazing and unexpected!

i had fun and thought the overall story was interesting, and the monsters were super cool, but the setting was sort of whatever to me. i still really enjoy schwab's writing, and i'm curious to see how the duology ends.

Wow. Wow.
This is the first book I've read in a long time that I've read in one sitting. The lady at my local Barnes and Noble swore that it was her favorite book and that I had to try it. So I did! Now I need to go back and get the next one!

This was a VERY nice read. Nice in a way that just fits with you. I loved it, the atmosphere of it was to die for, I adore the characters and the contrast between Kate and August! I don't know where to start in the best way possible, I don't even know what to say except: I really wish I had ordered the next one sooner!
