This book was so good!! I really enjoyed how sweet, funny and sarcastic all the characters are. Gwen and Art have been betrothed since toddlerhood, but on top of the fact that they hate each other, they each are playing for different teams. When they figure out each other’s secrets they work together to help each other catch the attention of the people they actually want.

This is everything I needed in a story! It’s all about love, friendship and unexpectedly a little bit of kingdom politics. The characters are so real and my heart goes out to the main six 🥰  the writing is heart warming, tear jerking, while also being laugh out loud funny in different moments.

🥰 It’s a  story of a princess betrothed to a boy , but the boy likes her brother, and the princess likes the only lady knight in the kingdom. 🏳️‍🌈 🧡🩷 💚💙

I really enjoyed this book! A good balance of humor and angst. I really wish we got to explore more of Arthur’s mental health, because it was clear he suffered through severe emotional abuse to the point of suicidal thoughts. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, too. I wish we got an emotional post-battle conversation between Gabe and Arthur, because they clearly still had a lot of stuff to talk through in order to pursue any kind of relationship. I also wish we got to know Bridget’s backstory a bit more! But, overall, I loved the dynamics between these characters—they were witty and lovable. Personally, I think this book would have been more suitable as a New Adult novel, but I still enjoyed it as a YA novel.

This was a funny, queer, YA romance set in post-Medieval England. I laughed out loud a lot at these characters and the anachronisms kept things lighthearted and relateable. The energy is very queer, though things are pretty tame because it is a YA romance. Some of the things that moved the main plot of the book (beyond the romances) felt contrived/like the author was trying too hard, and the main plot twists were predictable. But overall this was a really enjoyable palate cleanser of a read and I could see how a younger person who is exploring their sexuality can gain a lot from reading a book like this, though in a lighthearted and not deep way.
