Hmm, I don't know how to feel about this one.

This was a fun little story with fun little characters and fun little happenings. But! Why do i feel underwhelmed?

The main characters were good. I liked both gwen and art as individuals, and liked them even more when they were together. They were funny, sarcastic and assholeish (is that even a word?) To one another. Their bickering and conversations were the best thing about the book, which is kinda crazy seeing that we literally had a war going on at some point.

The love interests were....fine.

That's it, just fine. Which is disappointing since one of them is literally the first female knight in the Kingdom and the other the future king himself!! Sure they had their struggles and sure we saw a bit of character development but it was rushed and clumsy most of the time. And don't get me started on how both Gabriel and Bridget would switch up from feeling one way to another in record time.

Ugh anyways, the plot was fine. Though that war came out of nowhere and we didn't see a single character grieving over the king's death other than the mother who did in 2 paragraphs of the story. What I'm trying to say here is that the ending was rushed and barely addressed anything straight forwardly. This book would've been better if it had at least 2 more hundreds pages of writing.

This book has more in common with the Iliad than with any god damn ya romance I’ve ever read. This is a weird book to say the least
