4.75 - why is this series SO relatable?!

It's funny while being charming at the same time. It doesn't portray all the different types of otaku though. Just some. The author does the 4-5 that they included really well, though.

The art work is top notch. It's cute but also proportionate, which is something you don't get a lot in this type of manga.

The brother and his girlfriend are so adorable! They make a great pairing. She's super relatable... Everyone is great though. I'm not sure I have a favorite.

I thoroughly enjoyed this volume, but before I go into specifics there is something that I forgot to touch on in my last review that I want to discuss briefly here. One thing that I love about this series is the multiple references to anime, manga, cosplaying, otaku culture, etc. The reason why I love this so much is because unlike series/shows that try to bring in otaku culture or try to use anime references/slang, it makes sense in Wotakoi because the main characters are otakus. They aren't just normal, non-otaku folk who throw in a JoJo reference because it's relevant, but make references all the time because anime is their passion and by extension a large facet of their lives. So when Narumi makes an Akagi and JoJo reference in this volume, it doesn't seem out of place because she is an otaku and would make references like that. I know that I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing, but it's really frustrating when I see anime references in anime that a clearly there just to appeal to fans rather than make sense in context. Anyway, rant over, here's what I enjoyed about this volume:

1. Nao chan is precious and adorable and his budding friendship with Ko-kun is precious and adorable. I want to protect these two precious cinnamon rolls always.

2. Kabakura and Koyanagi's backstory/origin story was so sweet, I loved Kabakura trying to teach Koyanagi a move with anime. And seriously that last page where they embrace was so beautiful, I love them so much.

3. I loved Hirotaka collapsing from hunger because he gamed so long without eating. That is truly incredible and hilarious at the same time. Also, Narumi cooking for him was so sweet, I love those two.

4. I adore Nao=chan's facial expressions, he is just so pure and sweet. I know I already mentioned this, but I don't care, it needs to be repeated.

5. I love how Koyanagi explains to Kabakura that getting to share one's interests with another person is special, and getting to see someone take an interest in what you like is an incredible feeling. I related to this so strongly, as someone who adores anime but doesn't necessarily live in an area populated by other anime fans. Knowing that you share that interest with someone and share your favorites is wonderful, unrivaled feeling.

Anyway, I loved this volume and I love this series! I still highly recommend this series for anyone interested in a funny adult romance comedy featuring otakus.
