Keepsake- Amy Oliveira

This was such a beautifully raw and emotional story. I could feel the pain and grief throughout the entire book, and that later turned into love and hope and healing. And my man Alvaro having a double pierced peen…🥵🥵🥵 Logan and I both could not get enough. 😂😂

Noah and Vanessa’s narrations definitely brought all the emotions of the book so well. I really loved the authentic accents that came through in the parts where they switched to Spanish, even just individual words or names, rather than whole phrases. Casting native speakers or bilingual speakers to the language rather than someone outside of that culture that learned the language/accent makes a huge difference I believe and I loved the outcome.

Please check CW and TW before reading this one. Logan is not only dealing with the sudden loss of her childhood friend but finds out she’s now guardian to three kids. We get to see more into Logan’s friendship with Sofia. Parts had me absolutely heartbroken. Then there is Alvaro who helps Logan with and oh boy their chemistry was fire!!

When Logan reacquainted with her childhood best friend, she had no idea she would end up being the legal guardian of her three beautiful children. She also wasn't expecting to be received with open arms. Sofia's parents don't want to part with their grandchildren. Cubanos believe in taking care of their own. Familia. Logan is adamant. That was Sofia's last wish and she'll do anything to fulfill it - even if it means co-habitating with Sofia's much older brother, Alvaro, aka El Toro. He's an ex-MMA fighter, with tattoos all over his body and a very strategically placed piercing.
Alvaro feels guilty that he wasn't there to avoid what happened to Sofia. Now, the only thing he can do is try to do right by her kids. But his inner demons lead him to places where violence is the norm and it may reach Logan and the kids now. Can he keep the children, and Logan, safe?
This gem of an audiobook is the first 2024 release of the Audio in Color grant recipients and they hit the ground running!
Narrated dual style by Vanessa Vasquez and Noah B. Perez, this is audio gold. Vanessa's performance as the subdued but determined Logan is phenomenal. You can feel how torn Logan is - she now has everything she ever wanted, but the price was losing Sofia. Her children's voices are spot on. Noah B. Perez's raspy, melodious voice is perfect for the older, jaded and hurt Alvaro. It's a raw performance, emotions are all out and it's absolutely moving. And hot.
An emotional story of a group of very hurt people learning to trust one another and becoming a family.
The burn is slow in this one but it's bright! So glad it's now in audio!
Thanks Must Love Audio for allowing me to listen to this early.

4.5 out of 5 stars!

Logan Hart has suddenly been given legal guardianship of her best friend's three children. Her parents are against letting Logan take them, but Sofia's wishes were clear. The kids want to go with Logan; their mother's death being talked about around them is disturbing. They want a clean slate. Living with Logan will give them that. Their grandparents acquiesce, but only if their son/the kids' uncle Alvaro goes with them. Talk about awkward! But Logan and Alvaro agree for the kids' sake. Close quarters and all that bring a whole new level their relationship as guardians. They may be opposites in every way, but they belong together. Vanessa Vazquez and Noah B. Perez were amazing narrators! They embodied the characters and brought them to life. Amazing narrating duo!

I received an advance copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.
