So so good!! Great for fans of Casey McQuiston, Becky Albertalli, and Kacen Callendar.

Trigger Warning: Discussion of suicide, self harm, alcoholism, and consent.

everything that alice creates makes me cry and i’m not complaining but damn it would be nice to not feel so much from her words!!!!

A raw take on fan culture and the vulnerability that comes with bejng teenagers in this world.

The way the characters evolve, the way it shows fan behaviour and how crazy it can be. The way Angel changes of sorts. This book was so well written that it made my heart hurt.

The shattering of the illusion of a band group and the way Alice Oseman portrays it, no curtains hiding the reality was genuinely a wonderful truth to read about.

It also portrayed familial relationships so beautifully. We have Juliet who's been kicked out, Angel who's fighting with her mom for most of the book, Jimmy and his grandfather sharing this bond so delicate yet strong. Each of them provides a very real look into our own lives making you almost see a part of the life you live in their life.

The representation in this book is perfectly done too. There's so much good lgbtq rep scattered across these pages (bi, trans, gay) and the mental health focus through Jimmy was done showing the entirety of the vulnerability that comes with panic attacks.

To conclude, I loved this book so utterly.
If you like any group or band or singer, read this. If you fangirl heavily about groups, read this. If you ship group members in music groups, read this.
The raw truth this book serves so eloquently is worth the read to all those above and also to those who may not like a band or singer in particular. All in all, just read this book because the vulnerability strewn across these pages is worth reading and thinking about.

somebody give these kids a fucking therapy, a blanket and some space please

Not sure how I feel on this one. It was good but it had issues. I'm conflicted about the author writing a muslim character and a trans masc character when they don't hold those experiences. I feel better knowing they acknowledged this and wrote the book with the help of people who have those experiences but I'm still not sure about it.

There were also alot of unanswered things at the end of the book. Which is fine but I don't really feel like it reached enough of a resolution to just end. Idk Im very unsure about it.

We'll see...
