I believe that when I wrote my review for the previous installment in the series, I said something along the lines of how I wondered how they would manage to wrap up all the storylines in this final book. Well, it turns out I had nothing to worry about at all. I was quite pleased with this ending!

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a series do character development so well for teenagers.
In the first book, I really didn't have any connection to the characters, nor did I really have a strong desire to root for them outside of it just being the natural thing to do with a story. By this fifth book, however, I was so impressed with the choices that Percy, primarily, made for both the demigods and for his personal life. Obviously, because it's a middle-grade series, the "romance" aspect was super cheesy and still a little annoying, but overall it didn't hold much sway in how I felt about the story.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I’m so bummed that I missed out on reading these as a young teen. What I'm not bummed about? Picking them up as an adult. They feel really timeless and totally fun no matter what your age is. They're filled with hope, adventure, (found) family, and love. I recommend these to people of all walks of life.

It felt like a bit of a reward to finish this final book the night before the teaser trailer premiered for the adaptation. I'm glad about the fact that I get to be part of this fandom as it's growing and becoming more widespread.

I can’t wait to read the rest of Rick's series set within the same world. I have lots of questions that I hope are answered!
