A lot of historical information which I found difficult to retain but overall a really fascinating read. Particularly enjoyed the last chapter.

This book was an amazing read and captured my attention at every chapter. It explores the cultural, historical, artistic, scientific and emotional stories behind the night sky.

I truly don't know why I abandoned this book for over two years (I started reading it in November of 2022, read three chapters and didn't look at it again until a few days ago).
There is something so incredibly beautiful about seeing humanity's relationship with the night sky. Especially the last chapter which discusses the overview-effect is so utterly human, that I was actually crying while reading it. In a world of wars, injustice and pollution, it is so nice to see that earth in all it's glory when seen from space is more inspiring to people than looking at the cosmos. This intense connection that we feel for earth and the universe is truly the most human part of us.
