Si bien el primer libro me gustó bastante, este me ha gustado muchísimo más. Los personajes tienen más profundidad, la autora describir de forma más habilidosa las batallas y los diálogos fluyen mejor.

I definitely enjoyed this book and it wasn't at all bad, but it was very boring at times. Specifically during the months long travel to China. It was definitely worth it though because once they got to China it got more interesting and the ending was really good. Laurence and Temeraire's relationship was even better than the first book and I loved it so much. l'll definitely be reading the next book.

Most certainly a second novel and I would say not cApable of standing on its own. Regardless, it is a beautiful extension of the story of Temeraire, his captain, and their friends and companions. Quite often characters reflect on their own folly without suffering true doubt or misery for the pain their ignorance inflicted; it is not often that I find a book in which a main character suffers after recognizing his own folly and the failures of a system in which he had previously believed. For that alone I would enjoy this book; not that I revel in the misery of other but that I so enjoyed the development of character using both definitions of the word.

I love Laurance and Temeraire and their relationship is so cute. That being said there are some pacing issues. I did enjoy the description of China but this books makes me really glad planes were invented.
