Love a fictionalized Twin Cities. The Town Home bar lol. I'm an Ari sun/Taylor moon/Gwen rising, and if I were to get knuckle tattoos they would totally say book club.

I liked this, it was fun.
Not nearly as much as I liked Mimosa.

A collection of comic strips (originally published on Autostraddle) by gender-queer artist Arcie Bongiovanni. These comics tell the story of best friends and roommates Scout and Andy. Scout is hung up on her ex-girlfriend and Andy is living their best life going on all the dates from all the Apps.

This is probably best read in small doses. I found myself reading it and then putting it down after a handful of comics. Which is fine, because it is a compilation of comics rather than a graphic novel with one long story arc.

3.5 stars.

Funny and relatable. However I really didn’t know how to rate Grease Bats because although I related to some parts, there was way too much emphasis on sex/drinking/drugs/partying for me. I think other queer people will definitely see themselves and their experiences better reflected in this story than I did though!

enjoyed this!! glad I read DTWOF first, there are definitely a lot of similar themes and tones. I didn’t love everything about it — the settings were kinda weak, barely any panels had backgrounds. time skipped forward pretty fast (but also i read this in one sitting so.) I could’ve gone without all the drinking stuff but that’s just me. that said, I got attached to all the characters really quickly, and as a whole it was just a good time. BOOK CLUB is a banging knuckle tattoo, and a shirt that just says “PUP” is.. wonderful.

Grease Bats was meh for me.  I enjoyed the comedy, simplicity of graphics, and that it covered so many different topics, but it also annoyed me book covered so many different topics without going in depth.  Every story was get in, get out with quick resolutions.  And I also didn’t like the dumb shirts Andy kept wearing.  That said, I kept looking for them.  And while they is a fun character, I barely saw growth.  They are too damn old for those shenanigans.  Overall, this book was not my cup of tea.
