This is the first Book in the Kim Stone series. A very good read and a good introduction to the series. Kim is a feisty character who has demons of her own, which help in her hunt for the. criminals but also threatens to open up the past which she would rather remains hidden. A very good read that I urge you you to read.

Enjoyed the strong female character lead detective -- can't help but love the trope regarding the trauma in her childhood.

This was a really great start to a mystery series. I thoroughly enjoyed the cast of characters and the hints of their back stories.

I think this book deserves 3 1/2 stars rather than just the 3 that GoodReads lets me use. It's the first in a series and I'll definitely be reading more. Ten years previously, there was a fire at a care home which made it close down. Now, people who were working at the home are dying at an alarming rate. DI Kim Stone realises that these deaths must have something to do with the proposed archaeological dig that is about to start in the surrounding fields. Kim is an unusual character and I will need to read more before I decide if I actually like her. She certainly gets the job done but does not waste a single minute on niceties. I feel a bit sorry for her team - although she's not too horrible to most of them.

‘Silent Scream’ by Angela Marsons ticked all the boxes for me. What a tremendous read!
Focused, determined, motorbike restoring and riding DI Kim Stone with foster family background, check.
Great varied cast of colleagues, Bryant, Dawson and Stacey who sometimes rub each other the wrong way but stand by their Guv, check.
Pressure from the big boss, stress ball massaging Woody, check.
Bodies found in unmarked graves behind a former home for orphans, check.
Heroic deeds by a father and daughter, check.
Many thanks to Christine, for recommending this author and series!
