Bloodlust and Bonnets is a very cute, light-hearted read from Emily McGovern. The visual humor hits, there are some lovely illustrations, and the resolution was heartwarming. However, I am not scoring it higher as I found it difficult to get to, and the plot a bit difficult to follow. While it may be intentional, it often felt as if the plot was chosen out of a hat of cards, each one randomized after the other. Again, the characters were quirky and fun to follow, and there are many delightful homages to stereotypical Regency period dramas scattered throughout.
I also enjoyed how Sham was portrayed, and the eventual romance between her and Lucy. It was a delightful telling of a sapphic story and honestly, was the thing that kept me hooked through most of the book.

This book was a fun read! The characters were enjoyable and the story was interesting. The main problem I had was with the layout. The panels were very simple. That in its own is not an issue, but in this case it damped some of the more dramatic moments. Also, the author would often have very large amounts of text in a smaller area. Personally, I'm not a fan of that in graphic novels. But it was still a good time.
