I wanted to like this, really I did. But the editing was HORRIFYING and every error jolted me right out of the story. I spent more time trying to get back into it than I did actually in it. The only reason I didn’t dnf was that I actually kind of liked Trane.
Another big issue was Janae. They build up her tragic backstory and then do nothing about it. Did she ever actually talk to Trane about her past? She hinted, sure, but it seems really wrong that his past is fair game and hers is made up of a couple hints. It made her extremely flat & insipid. Seems like the only thing she was good for was wiggling on the ice. Yes, it really was that awkward.
Continuity was an issue as well. Things just didn’t add up with what had previously been set up.
Ended up hating a book I wanted to love, so no more from this author.
