Gave great insights on King’s personal experience and that’s all someone can do and therefore all we can ask for. I liked how it was contemplative and self-reflective, and I enjoyed hearing about his life and how the stories came to be.

It was outdated in parts imo but I’m glad I read it - but even more glad that I decided to see if Libby had it on audio, which I switched to at around 50%.

I don't think I've ever read a Stephen King book before, but really enjoyed this one.

Thank you King for this memoire about your life and on writing. More contemplative and less instructional. But still very informative and inspiring. I really enjoyed it. I’ll try to avoid adverbs when possible.

The book was 80% about King's life and 20% about writing. I wish it was more balanced. The few tips were really good and I would have liked more tips like that. Also, he repeated the tips all the time. That was a bit annoying. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book and it motivated me to write again!

"Im not asking you to come reverently or unquestioningly; I'm not asking you to be politically correct or cast aside your sense of humor (please God you have one). This isn't a popularity contest, it's not the moral Olympics, and it's not church. But it's writing, damn it, not washing the car or putting on eyeliner. If you can take it seriously, we can do business. If you can't or won't, it's time for you to close the book and do something else."
