I liked the theme! But it wasn’t as gripping to me as some of the other Kaga cases

it took me some times to understand the plot because it’s the different from the last two books of detective kaga series. the victim and the suspect died, it’s getting harder to find the truth about this murderer. the plot was pretty much flat in the middle of the book, checking about the suspect’s innoceness. it’s getting more complicated after knowing that the suspect is clean. glad kaga and his mind could solve another mystery by observing from yuto’s problem. it’s really blowing my mind to know that aoyagi just tried to cover what his son do after all this time. and the real murderer is the most mind blowing one. i wonder why he has the audacity to do it just to save himself. also thinking that he has big good luck after doing it? that’s really sick. so the plot twist is all perfect!

It didn't compel me - possibly due to the genre - as it was just a list of events. Plus, it was part of a series so I didn't have a history with the characters. Yes, I want to solve the case, but I'd rather just look up the plot on Wikipedia, it's basically the same thing at this point.

This one tugged on my heart strings.  It included elements of parent-child relationships, reflecting on choices we make as children/teens, and the responsibility of adults in teaching children and shaping them into future adults.  And Keigo Higashino always gets me with the plot twists!
