Lynda Barry's One Hundred Demons is one of my favorite books, so I've looked forward to reading Cruddy for years. Warning: it is much darker than I expected. What a rough read; if you are sensitive check the trigger warnings first. Parts of it are darkly funny, but mostly the bleakness is relentless. So many characters, (nearly) all ugly and terrible. At times I got frustrated with that, but I remember how ugly everything was as a teenager with clinical depression, and my world wasn't nearly as Cruddy. It was well worth reading, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people I know. That one dark friend, though, has got to read this.
