Always introduced as "The Quintessential American Sportswriter" on the Tony Kornheiser radio show, Bob Ryan's memoir conveys his great love of sports and chronicles his nearly 50 years covering the Boston and National sport scenes.

A lot of this book was about basketball, and I'm not a huge basketball fan. Despite this, the book was really enjoyable (being a Boston fan definitely made it more enjoyable). It was well written, and I think it would be accessible no matter what one's familiarity with sports. My one complaint was the the organization of chapters didn't always seem to make a ton of sense. (Also, as with any sports book, I would've loved more talk about hockey - especially from a BC grad!)

Received from NetGalley.

I won this book via a Goodreads giveaway.
I am not a fan of Basketball, but this book was very well written, and no matter if you're a sports fan or not, Ryan makes this book easy to follow. I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading some of Ryan's other books.

Liked the info about his childhood and chapter about covering the Olympics.
