Wasn't really a fan of this novelization, but I hate to give it a low rating because I think the source material was the problem. The movie felt like a frantic collection of scenes that were trying to be a coherent narrative. So clearly writing it out into a novel is going to be a bit of a mess. This was also just really dry and a beat for beat retelling of the movie without many fun character insights or expansions. And there was too much trying to explain things that didn't make sense in the movie. Just forget about all of that and entertain me please! Anyway, not a fan. The movie was incoherent but at least fun to watch while this novelization was just boring.

I’m not one for reading novelizations about a movie but as with all the Star Wars books I’ve come across, the audio renditions are full of great embellishments and the classic recognizable musical score that always elevates the experience.

This was a very nice revisit, adding extra scenes and insights to the movie which will surely delight hardcore fans.

I'm not sure if i can review this book fairly as I've already seen the movie a few times. This means that for it to stand out to me, it has to add to the original story of the movie.
It didn't really do this for me.

There were a few additional parts that expanded on the story but mainly its a straight retelling.
There is nothing wrong with the book, it just didn't do what i hoped it would.

I listened to the audio-book and it was very well produced but had a couple of annoyances
1. any time the narrator did chewbacca's vocals
2. any time the narrator said Tantive IV

Funny how the book seems to acknowledge that the plot of Rise of Skywalker doesn't really make much sense.

ok after reading the love hypothesis (which i only kinda liked) i decided to rewatch the sequels and i finally watched the rise of skywalker (i'd been putting it off forever bc i knew what happened and i wasn't ready to deal) anyway thus once again begun my hyperfixation with star wars. obvs i had biases reading this book bc im soooo soooo attached to these characters and i would d** for all of them. it was definitely going to be rather impossible for me to not love this book, but it exceeded all my expectations (the amount of annotating i did!!!!). i absolutely loved being inside everyone's head and actually being able to see all their thoughts and feelings on page (especially kylo's/ben's

I actually really enjoyed this (though I also really enjoy the movie too)! Knocked down a star because the pacing is strange in some places (but again, it's also kind of rushed then slow in the movie too) and it was enjoyable to read about a couple moments that weren't in the movie or explained very well on screen.
