Excuse me, but I am not sure I was supposed to like this book that much. My emotions are all over the place right now. Seriously, I am not sure what I am supposed to be feeling. I am feeling all kinds of stuff right now and I am not sure I should be.
Amazing, troubling, seriously dark and completely hit me to my core. When I was done I immediately bought Seduced in the Dark. And both books are engraved into me.
Olivia Ruiz is an amazingly strong young woman. And I like to think that anyone who would be put in her situation would have her survival skills.
Olivia is kidnapped and from the moment she wakes up and realizes what is happening to her she is literally kept in the dark. For reasons unknown to her she has been taken, and the only thing she is told is that if she is good and obeys she will be ok. Only she's not ok with that. This girl is a fighter and she fights her kidnapper physically and verbally. But she pays for disobedience dearly. She is whipped, goes without food, humiliated and is sexually abused. But even through this, she refuses to be broken.
Caleb is a man on a mission. He seeks revenge on an extreamly wealthy and powerful man who destroyed his life at a very young age. Revenge is all Caleb knows, and Livvie is his way at taking down the man who took Cables life from him.
This is one of those books that I don't want to give too much away, and you really just have to read the story for yourself. I found Captive in the Dark while searching for my next book to read, I kept it on my kindle for a quite a while. I wasn't sure it was something I could could read, or wanted to read. It had been given such good reviews, and I thought really?? A story about a girl that is kidnapped to for the sole purpose to be trained as a sex slave. But here I am giving it 5 stars. The characters in this book are evil bastards. With the exception of Livvie. There were times I wanted to scream at my kindle, only to turn around to find myself crying, to turn right around and yell at Caleb for being such a cruel bastard. I sat there the whole time wondering, how can this man have any redeeming qualities? How am I suppose to root for him when he's the bad guy? But through out the book you learn about Caleb's past and why he is the way he is. That's one thing I loved about this book is that you get to see it through both Livvie and Caleb's point of view (and it's not confusing). It is so well written, I honestly didn't want to put it down. And I have to say this, if you have read Fifty Shades of Grey, or books of the like this is not in the same category. There are no safe words. There are no contracts. There are no soft or hard limits. For Livvie, there is just survival. So if that's what you are looking for, pass on this book. This is a very dark story about messed up, screwed up characters looking for redemption. Not to say that there aren't some steamy scenes, but there not all gonna make you swoon. So if you think this is something you handle then I highly recommend this book.

My god que libro pero que enganchamiento aunque un poco disturbing a veces pero ñlkdjflajslfñjalñfjañl
Caleb!!! Ahhh! I wanted to hate him and sometimes I did but he always found a way to get his way back into my good graces. I loved Livvie, she had to deal with a lot and thought she was as strong as her character made her but I know she will grow and become stronger with everything that happened. This book was dark! But it was amazing in every way. I loved the writing of Roberts, she sucked me in from the very first chapter and I couldn't get enough of this story and the characters! I can't wait for the next book to see where they ended up because that ending!!! My god. GIVE ME MORE
This was a very intense book. Still not 100% sure how I feel about it. There were times when I felt guilty even reading it. I am not sure how to feel about Caleb. You want to love him but you want to kill him at the same time. Ready to go onto book two to see where this takes Livvie.
2.5-3 Stars (audiobook)
Right. So this book.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book and there’s alotta hype surrounding it but tbh it didn’t really do much for me. The story line was pretty average. Both the main characters had interesting back stories and there was some chemistry there but I just feel as though I’ve read this story like 10 times before but with different names for the MCs and better writing. This book was also pretty tame in relation it’s dark and gritty theme, in my opinion. I didn’t feel as though her psychological effects of her situation were as developed as they should have been given the large amount of isolation she suffered and her unawareness of the passing of time. I’m also not as invested in these characters as I would have liked to be but I am somewhat interested in where the story goes. Might read the next book at some point.

I got 20 pages into this book and had to stop. It glorifies rape, attacks and sex slaves and as a female I am disgusted that this book hasn't been caught by censors and outlawed. This promotes criminal and degrading behaviours and I am sick thinking that some people are turned on by this.
Stockholm syndrome and rape fantasies do not make a good book. At all. I implore everyone NOT to read this.
Minus stars and ratings. Please think more highly of yourself than this book portrays humankind.

Where the Frack is Liam Neeson When you Need Him???

This is well done, but man was it hard to read. I can't think of the last book that bothered me so much but that I kept coming back to. I will read the second book in the series [b:Seduced in the Dark|13612739|Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2)|C.J. Roberts|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1335114363s/13612739.jpg|19212100]but I am going to need some fluff in between and maybe a Disney princess book or something.
Livvie is kidnapped and smuggled out of the country by a handsome man named Caleb. There is a lot of confusion for both in this situation Livvie’s been kidnapped but through time spent (training time) with Caleb she seems to have feelings or attraction for him. Caleb is also confused as this is not his first rodeo and he is having very strong feelings as well. You see Caleb is training Livvie to be pleasure slave to be sold at auction.
This is not sexy, this is not a romance, it was very dark and devastating. I found it scary to have all freedom just removed from the table. Caleb’s attitude is sorry babe it sucks but there is nothing to be done. Seriously dude you stole her, you did this make it better…NOW
My stomach was in a clench for the most of the read, but it was really well written obviously to have that effect. So just know what you are getting into when you start this one.
