Speechless and reeling from the mind-fuck of the cliffhanger at the end! September better get here quick! I NEED to know what happens next!!!
Oh, book. So promising. But were you a study on Stockholm Syndrome? Nope. Or, you may have been but instead of allowing us to be horrified by rape and sexual slavery - an issue that really needs to be acknowledged more often - the POV suddenly switches and our rapist becomes a tortured antihero. Add that to a terribly slow plot (seriously, what happened in that book other than "oh no! feels!"???) and SO much exposition and it was a complete disappointment.
Complete waste of time.
Complete waste of time.
lets just say thank god that I have the next one........,....
this was exhilarating.....I just had to know what would happen next. I really liked that the girl was hispanic..., that was a nice change. I love dark romances and this was it!!!! I just have to say ....whoa...wow.....omg!!!!!!

***Before anything else, let me warn you that this may contain offensive language including, but not limited to explicit withdrawal, profanity, obscenity, verbal abuse, mindless cussing and obnoxious behavior thrown around all over the damn place like crazy***
EPIC SHIT WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE FLYING FUCKERY JUST TRANSPIRED? I think my brain has been fried, breaded and is now being served up! Still reeling from it all bordering on I'm-not-ready-to-face-the-world-give-me-a-month-to-get-over-that-story-sociopath!!!!
Okay so Captive in the fucking Dark. I really never recognized how molested I was until now. Oh my dear lord! I have never read a story as messed-up, stressful, insanely dark and as heavy as this. Without giving too much away it's not for the faint of heart but to be honest, nothing about the subject matter ever bothered me. Heck, I looked past all that but none of it bothered. Or maybe I just love stuff that pushes against my usual comfort zone and pushes the very limits of what is appropriate. There. Everyone happy?
Enter Kitten/Livvie. Bloody freakin hell such a tortured heroine to root for! Million times better than Anastasia Steele (just saying) She's responsible for exhausting and draining me completely dry. I laughed, sobbed and fought along with her throughout 'till I finally became closely attuned to her. Define emotionally invested, bitch.
Now we move on to Caleb. Holy shitballs mother of god! He'll be the death of me! Does anyone know CPR? Seriously though! That bastard, I swear to fuck...is damaged with a capital D. But I love him in an unhealthy terrifying and well, erotic kind of way okay??! I want to smack myself upside the head for loving him despite his sick, twisted, psychopathic issues. Son of a bitch makes me question myself........... Caleb. Shit, son, Caleb. Stockholm syndrome, anyone?
Jesus H. Christ this couple annihilated me, without a doubt among the most screwed-up and dysfunctional relationship I've ever encountered!
Magnificent [a:C.J. Roberts|5174152|C.J. Roberts|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1315342144p2/5174152.jpg] here has set the bar so high that it's nearly impossible for me to find another equally captivating tale. Her writing is intensely powerful and engaging. Disturbing plot is so perfectly woven-- the kind that sucks you into oblivion and nothing or anyone else matters anymore until you never want to escape her fucking paper world. That usually takes some mad skills, ya know?! The woman is a walking breathing entity of pure talent. My new fave author! I could go on and on and on about the genius that is CJ and CITD but I'd rather you just read it for yourself and take a bold, risky plunge. To sum everything up, 'twas groundbreaking and terrific!
6 all-consuming, character-driven stars!!!

Okay if you are looking for a good dark read this is deffinantely up that alley.
It took me a little time to actually like Caleb but it isn’t hard to actually like the guy even though he did kidnap Olivia with the intention of training her ( well break her down) to be a pleasure slave. There is SOOO much more to the story than that.
A lot of people either love or hate this book and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I was so drawn into it.
There is a brokenness in her that you just hope he will help her fix and same in him, there is something that just needs to be addressed and to some point you get an idea what kind of man he is as you go. You find out quite a bit about him when we get to hear his thoughts. I mean what girl would grow up to be whole, happy and loved when your father tells you:
“Women are dirty whores and full of dirty blood, so every month they have to get rid of it.”
If you have an issue with forced submission this is NOT for you!
I on the otherhand couldn’t put it down I wanted to know what came next.
You can feel the connection that he has with her instantly. He doesn’t know how to deal with that. Before I read this story I saw people saying that they loved him so it was a bit hard to see it at first I really didn’t want to like him but towards the middle and end I can see it.
“Tears had always been mystifying to him. He liked looking at them, tasting them. Truth be told, they made him hard.”
Stockholms syndrome definitely takes a part in this book, but I can understand how that comes to play in the situations and things that happen.
There is quite a bit that happens and MAN; as I was reading it, all I could think was “what the hell goes on in C.J. Roberts mind? I would love to just see in there..” But then as I kept going there were a few times that I had that “yeah no, nevermind!” thought. haha
This isn’t for the weak of heart !
There is a lot that happens and goes on that is NOT okay, but it happens in fiction as well as in reality. I have read another series that has this aspect to it but it was never written from the girls POV who is the captive. We just get to get glimpses of what is going on. This was different, scary, sad , horrible all mixed into one. Yet there was something more to it. You could feel the emotion that lay beneath the surface for both of them.
This is absolutely not for everyone…
But I have to say I look forward to finish up this series I mean if it just gets better… I am on board!
This may not be for everyone but if you want something that leaves you saying WTF did I just read and why did I love it?! This is it!
