**This is a 'read at your own risk' book***

I honestly don't know what to think, except:

1. Should I be disturbed that the events in this novel didn't bother me?
- Even if I should, I'm not. I'm not sure how to feel about that revelation though.
2. Should I be ashamed that I fell in love with the sick, twisted bad guy?
- Once again, if I should, I'm not. I really felt my heart strings tugging and just wanted to fix Caleb.
3. Do I want Caleb and Livvie to become a couple?
- I'm not sure yet. Maybe, but after some issues are worked through.
4. Will I be reading the rest of the trilogy?
- Hell, yes!

Mind blown.

Not at all what I was expecting.

As fucked up and twisted as it was, it was good.

The emotions I felt while reading this book were all over the map. At times I wanted so badly to just give up reading it but something intriguing would happen and I just couldn't put it down.

"This isn't a romance. You're not a damsel in distress and I'm not the handsome prince come to save you."

My heart broke for Olivia and I can't help but keep my fingers crossed that she has a positive end to her story.

"He grabbed me roughly and turned my face into his chest. Before I had any thought about it, I wrapped my arms around him and held on to him as hard as I could. He was my tormentor and my solace; the creator of the dark and the light within. I didn't care that he would undoubtedly hurt me at any moment, right now; I just needed somebody to hold me, somebody to be kind to me, somebody to tell me exactly those words. It's going to be okay. It wasn't of course, I knew that. But I didn't care. I needed the lie. I needed my books, my movies, and now Caleb's arms."
dark sad medium-paced

When I first picked up this book I was thinking it was going to be the dark angst I needed. I think I had a problem with the entire book. The writing was good but I am not so sure I could ever get in tune with the whole sex slave, kidnapping thing. I loved Kitten though and felt for her through the book just not enough to love the book or even really like it.

Update: I tried it again... I added one star. But still not a fan

F**K ME!
Brilliant.
Get on it. Like, now. Right now. Right. Now.

That was AMAZING!
A 6 STAR read!

I can't even form coherent thought ...

Emotional This book makes you FEEL. I was nervous, happy, sad, horny & utterly afraid ... and that was all in the first 3 chapters!
Real So wonderfully well written. The story is beguiling and the characters are rich, complex and enthralling. I was completely wrapped up in this book.
Confusing Not because of the storyline, but because of how it will make you think & feel. I really felt like I should dislike Caleb but damn, I think I'm in love with him!

I'm feeling the Stokholm's & I think like it!

The ending ... just when you think it's all going to be ok ... it isn't! And then it's over!

Good thing I already own the next book .... starting it right away!

"Each story wanted, no-needed-to reveal a human fragility, a human bondage which tied people to the things they did and to be the person they held in their heads. Those stories were something true and sometimes horrific but people were people and the parts didn't just tell the whole story."

I added Captive in the Dark to be TBR list but was worried about reading it; thinking it might take me too deep into the darkness and I would need a support group to make it through. I decided to peek at it and skim a few pages but after reading the first few lines this book had me hooked and lost. Falling in to the story chills crawled up my spine and goose bumps covered my skin as I got deeper and darker into this twisted tale.

Caleb is not what I was expecting at all. He frightened me for what he was capable of doing, what he had done and what he will do but I was so conflicted by his behavior. I am not sure if I wanted to see the softer side even thought it added an extra layer to him. He was easier to categorize without it. I wanted a monster in this story and I got one but there were more monsters hidden where we couldn’t see them.

Olivia is a strong willed yet naive girl. Her stubborn actions earn her punishment along with admiration from her Master; the one who wants to break her but the one she wants comfort from. Her being captive in the dark, not knowing what was going to happen, yet as the reader you know, reminded me of classic Hitchcock films. The viewer always knew the score while they players were unaware.

I will not give a repeat synopsis of this book, if you are willing to take a chance and open your mind I suggest you read it. If you are looking for a fairy tale or a light BDSM book I suggest you look elsewhere.

Captive in the Dark is a mind trip; an intense and gripping read that will challenge you and have you question what is right and wrong. What is acceptable behavior and what can be tolerated? It will have you asking yourself if there is such a thing as redemption for the truly wicked regardless of what led them to evil?

Captive in the Dark does not shock or disturb you for the sheer value of doing so because it can. The author weaves and intelligent story that will make you think while you are reading and long after. I am more than anxious to read the sequel, Seduced in the Dark, to continue on this dark adventure and finally know the conclusion of this twisted story.

This is some dark&twisted story but I really enjoyed it. If there's a minus for me than that's being written in first and in the third person. But hey, that's so not important. It's good, strange but satisfying.
