After I read the first book last week, I just couldn't wait to read the second book. And since this weekend I have the goal to read over a 1000 pages (so I can tell everyone that I read 10k pages in one month), this book was perfect to complete the first half of that challenge, especially because while reading this book I didn't even notice it was this big!
From start to finish the book once more has a really nice pace. The author knows when to spice things up, when to add a sex scene, when to add something more emotional, when to remind us that underneath all of it there's also a plot and how to keep me glued to my seat. There wasn't a part in the book that bored me or went too slow and I never had the feeling that something was too much, not even the sex. (I'd say that I was actually even expecting more of it than there was ;-))
And even though Allison might not always be sympathetic and has mood swings, I can't help but like her as a character anyway. She reminds me of me. A little too much. And I like that, because the Alice in the Original Tale reminds me of my 7 year old me too. (Yes, I was an annoying know-it-all too smart for her own good. Been sent out of class for it quite a few times...)
And even this version of wonderland, even though it's really fucked up (pun intended. Can I swear in reviews, by the way? I know Americans are really sensitive about this, but I assume those are not reading those books and the positive reviews on it anyway), it's a really interesting world and so much is going on and there are surprises around every corner.
And, like I already said, even after the first book it kept surprising me that even though the book clearly is about the forming of a Harem, there is more to the plot than that and there are actually some interesting and emotional layers woven into this guilty pleasure too.
I can't wait to read the conclusion to this series!

holy cow. I read the first book of these series when I found it on tiktok. I had to read the second book because of the suspense of the first one. I thought this one surely couldn’t have more cliffhangers than the first? I was absolutely wrong in every way and I’m glad I was. If this was made into a movie, I’d gladly watch it over and over. As the book though, I’m glad I continued the series. I really enjoyed this book in the series.
